Full Time

The position… A unique career opportunity exists for an individual utilise their relevant experience in social planning, strategic planning, policy development or other relevant field to assist in the development and implementation of a Community Engagement Framework for the City of Melbourne. Working in a progressive and complex environment, the position will assist work areas to plan, develop, implement and evaluate Community Engagement programs. You will also initiate and develop relationships and partnerships with Council business units and external agencies, and provide information and advice to them on initiatives and activities that are aligned with the objective of engaging the community.

You will have…

  • A tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in social planning, strategic planning, program delivery, policy development, project management or other relevant field
  • High-level analytical, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving skills, including an understanding of the complexities of working with diverse communities
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuade key stakeholders on matters relating to areas of responsibility
  • A sound understanding and demonstrated application of community engagement methodology, principles  and practice
  • Excellent relationship management skills, including the capacity to work within a strong team environment and to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary groups
